Nick Phelps is a serial entrepreneur who knows how to start, scale and sell profitable businesses. He joined Cultivate Advisors in 2019, just six months after selling his last company.

Fellow entrepreneurs see Nick as a strategic partner to their businesses, not just an advisor. From helping a digital marketing firm triple in size, to guiding a financial accounting advisory through a gainful acquisition, Nick has a strong track record of client success stories.

Nick focuses on the oft-overlooked details of running a profitable business, steering owners toward long-term strategy and effective leadership while helping them build high-performing teams and retention programs to keep a talented workforce.

Under Nick’s guidance, hustle-focused entrepreneurs simultaneously improve their work-life balance and achieve goals faster than they thought possible. They learn to prioritize their personal lives and execute more efficient strategies so they aren’t handcuffed to their businesses. One of Nick’s previous clients couldn’t find enough time for his family: After working with Nick, he’s been home every day by 3 p.m.

As a business owner, Nick has grossed $40 million in sales across the three companies he founded, led teams as large as 300 people and successfully exited a company. After starting his first lucrative business at 17, he later co-founded a direct-to-consumer online grocer that specialized in sustainably grown produce and artisanal foods.

That company grew from two men in a garage to more than 40 employees, a large warehouse and a constantly-evolving custom technology platform. There, Nick learned how to scale high performance teams. Even if he had switched to selling tires the next day, Nick still would have loved the business because of the team he built. After delivering millions of pounds of groceries to thousands of customers, the brand has continued to thrive after Nick’s successful exit.

Nick comes from a family of entrepreneurs, so it wasn’t surprising when, at 10 years old, he opened a lemonade stand and turned it into a profitable franchise, hiring his friends to run other locations while taking a percentage of their sales. It was his first of many experiences with building economies of scale.

Nick lives and works in Denver, where he and his wife recently welcomed their son into the world.
