Mike Schields has always championed an entrepreneurial mindset, whether he was creating successful startup divisions in the corporate world, restructuring entire companies, or running his own consulting firm.

After one of Mike’s clients was promoted from sales manager to vice president of sales at a solar panel installation company, Mike coached him on leadership skills to better communicate with C-level executives, as well as implemented financial strategies that helped him double the new company’s revenue in the first year. After working with Mike, the client was promoted to senior vice president of sales within six months.

At the company level, Mike organized a tour operator business, executed a marketing plan that distinguished them from competitors, built out a budget and created key performance indicators that improved it’s strategy and operations, while strengthening their position in the market that continues to build share for them.

While leading teams through the feast-and-famine nature of tourism for 20 years, Mike learned how to build a sustainable organization across industries, one that can drive investment and growth while remaining financially stable through any period. His career start in sales allowed him to hone integral leadership and communication skills. He later developed a methodical, precise approach to business operations in his senior roles as manager, vice president, and CEO.

Mike joined Cultivate in 2021 after successfully exiting his consulting firm. When he’s not having a blast scaling businesses with his clients, Mike spends time with his wife and their border collie Milton at their home in Illinois. Since their kids are fully grown, they also love to travel the world. Some of Mike’s favorite places to visit are France, Hong Kong, Peru, Canada, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. The son of an airline executive and an immigrant, Mike has been traveling since he was born.
